Matt, my "downside" protection has returned the gains I expected, especially since I tripled my positions as the puts got cheaper closer to expiration.
Heck, I got some QAVMZ's(QQQ JAN 26 PUTS) yesterday for .10, just sold them dogs for .40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I have said every month for some time, the week of option expiration is where I make the most money.
