Yesterday I placed an Limit order to buy slightly below the current price on a Nasdaq stock. After about a 1/2 hour the current quote showed a bid that was a penny lower than my bid. This lower bid was displayed for about 10 minutes. The stock doesn't trade much and the ask was still higher than my bid so I probably wouldn't have gotten the shares anyway but where did my bid go? I certainly wasn't being represented in the market. (When I place a bid with Datek it always shows up.) I checked several times and my order showed on the "Open Order" screen so I know it was accepted by Waterhouse. Lousy execution along with $23.45 limit orders, they don't have much to offer.
