I know a few people who do home schooling in San Francisco. My hats off to them. Its a lot of responsibility. I personally feel kids need a school structure, its an experience in itself.

I also know a lot of people here who will spend an insane amount to be able to buy a house in a good school district just so they can put their kids in good public school, volunteer their ass off at the school and then when the schools still fail to deliver, they are forced to spend insane amounts on private tutoring institutes as well......seems silly to me but it works for them....

I dunno, its a very sensitive issue here in the Silicon Valley......coz property prices are linked to school districts. My house 1/4 mile down the road would cost 50% more. If it were on the other side of the road, it would cost 30% less. All because of school districts....and yet....everyone is unhappy.
