Advanced Healthcare Technologies, Inc. Announces Final Preparations for Filing of Patent Application
FARMINGDALE, N.J., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Advanced Healthcare Technologies, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: AVHC) today announces the completion of final preparations for the filing of a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The new application, sponsored by Phillip Loori, Dr. Frank Rossi and George Horvorka, will relate to a Flexible Topical Hyperbaric Oxygen Extremity Chamber. Advanced Hyperbaric Technologies, Inc. (AHT), the company's wholly owned subsidiary, is the exclusive licensee of the technology.
The patent application will be prepared and filed by the prestigious patent firm of Lerner, David, Littenberg, Krumholz & Mentik, and will continue Mr. Loori's distinctive history as a pioneer in the development and patent of new and progressive topical hyperbaric treatments for the healing of wounds. Mr. Loori 's previous patents include; United States Patent No. 4,801,291 (1/31/89), relating to a portable topical hyperbaric apparatus, which patent is presently assigned to AHT and acts to treat bed soars, pressure ulcers and torso wounds; United States Patent No. 5,060,644 (10/29/91), relating to a hyperbaric chamber apparatus; and United States Patent No. 5, 154,697 (10/13/92), relating to a collapsible topical hyperbaric apparatus.
The new Flexible Topical Hyperbaric Oxygen Extremity Chamber will complement AHT's current Rigid Topical Hyperbaric Technology, by enabling physicians to treat a wider range of patients, including those patients suffering from chronic wounds and other disabilities such as frozen hips, contractions and disfigured extremities, who were previously unable to receive Topical Hyperbaric Treatment due to the inflexibility of the rigid chamber.
Phillip Loori, President of AVHC and of AHT, stated that the new technology will make it possible for AHT to serve a much larger patient base and will provide the company greater access to the nation's estimated 17,000 nursing homes. The Flexible Topical Hyperbaric Oxygen Extremity Chamber will act not only to treat a larger variety of chronic wound types, but also will give the treatment provider more tools with which to treat and monitor chronic wound patients.
In the United States alone, 5,000,000 cases of open wounds are reported each year. It has been estimated that as many as 10% of hospitalized patients and 23% of nursing home patients suffer from some form of chronic wound which requires specialized treatment.
Mr. Loori reports that; "the company is extremely excited about the future of the Flexible Topical Hyperbaric Chamber, and that as more medical practitioners discover the benefits of Topical Hyperbaric Treatments, more limbs and lives will be saved."
