I think the point was that the author's statement was either very ill-informed and incorrect, or intentionally misleading so as to make a 1x overlay seem like a very dumb idea.

Whichever of these are true, helping the author out and trying to find some way to make his statement credible is not only a waste of time, it runs counter to our efforts to learn more about Qualcomm and the environment in which it does business, and share that knowledge with others of similar interest.
