I agree. We need to reach out to all students, not just because is is the compassionate things to do, but because we can't afford to have people opt out of society because they can't do anything, and have no investment in our social system.

But even if we differed totally, on everything regarding education, the most important element in our dialog, for me, is that we differ respectfully. Polarization, demonization, stand in the way of a civil society, and stand in the way of progress, on any issue. I think SI helped teach me that. I hate to see the results of polarization. It appears to result in endless name calling, that has no productive value.
