Pally, the folks at the Post have a hearing or comprehension problem. Ms Rice did not say "it is appropriate for race to play a role in the admissions process"

I heard her speak directly.
"I believe that while race-neutral means are preferable, it is appropriate to use race as one factor among others in achieving a diverse student body."

That is 100% in sync with PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH.

You see by definition race is a factor of diversity. So one has to considers all factors if one wants a diverse whatever.

But some child of a lawyer or doctor who is African should get 20 points for admission and a perfect SAT is only 12 points. That's not diversity, that's racist.
