I really do not know, and I don't intend to find out. I guess they are no different from snails in edibility. They eat fresh plants. Owing to their habit of living on the ground, it probably would be a good idea to wash them first.

A colleague spent some time on a detail down in Indonesia. At the hotel where she stayed they served, among other disgusting things, fish eyes on a bed of rice. I suppose our American palate is pretty spoiled.
