Hi robert, I am not sure I can agree with this part of your post: Many of those hurt most by this recession have been those elderly or otherwise that rely on fixed income from bonds..

Bondholders have done very well for the past few years. As well as an income stream that looks better than ever in this low inflation environment they are sitting on some nice capital gains. I manage my mother's portfolio which is mainly bonds and am guessing that it has outperformed many equity accounts.

Going forward from here is another matter. Of course if deflation is not avoided bonds will continue to outperform.
