My point was you said Ritter's out of touch 'cause he's no longer a UN weapons inspector. My counter response was that the generals who are paraded on television--a half a dozen or more each day--are retired generals.

Thus, if the retired generals can comment based on their connections to the active duty military, why can't Ritter comment based on his connections to the active duty UN weapons inspection team?
