Good topic, LP.

I've posted this before on SI, but as someone who has had an abortion, I can tell you that it was a difficult choice to make and not easy to schedule, as only my local Planned Parenthood does abortions for reasons outside of a life-threatening situation for the mother. I went through weeks of waiting and counseling, then more counseling about birth control after the abortion. Anyone who tells you that abortion is regularly used as a means of casual birth control does not know what s/he's talking about. It is an extremely difficult and painful choice, but a choice for which I am grateful.
