Let me try to understand that sentence -- The damage is that people in the Center where the votes are will never be attracted to the underlying hatred expressed by most of the speakers, their utter disconnect with the middle is where they do damage to their chances. So, you're saying the protestors damage their own chances? Doesn't sound like a problem from your POV
