Fox did an outstanding piece on Venezuela last night did you see it?
I'd be an idiot to pretend to be an expert on Venezuela, even tho' I have a friend and tech employee who tells me about his family there. He got married two months ago, and will stay in the US with his Venezuelan wife, and won't return. His view is that the US has ulterior motives and interferes in these protests. His uncle is a captain, and he says they're going to determine the outcome, but are full of US-sponsored agitators in the guard as well. Who knows.
I have no idea, altho' the US and the Bush crew in particular has a bad track record covertly interfering in Latin American countries for profit, I cannot take at face value what is presented without hearing all sides, and the Chavez side is unavailable.
Further, what the hell gives the US the right to get involved in any other country? We're the strongest on the planet by an order of magnitude, there's no need to prove our military capabilities. There's no Constitutional authorization to do so. In fact there are warnings and prohibition against foreign entaglements by the Founders.
The greatest mistake is to get involved in feuds like the blood feuds in the Middle East, and political turmoil in Latin America. Those tend to be run with hidden agendas for personal and political profit, and against interests of we Americans.
The greatest presidents have warned against the easy tendency to war for personal, profiteering and political reasons, not defense, most recently Eisenhower, as you know. Eisenhower was right. |
