Would war clear up those problems?

What about our embargoes against Cuba and Iraq. Does that have anything to do with their hunger and do those embargoes work?

I do not think so.

How long will we continue to embargo Cuba or Iraq, eternity?

I am not all that convinced about oil being the reason, but I do realize that oil is what has give the Arab world their muscle, and we do not wish for them to have that muscle especially if they do not support our goals as it applies to the region (Isra'El in particular).

They believe in our own "Domino effect" hypothesis that if Iraq goes, Saudi Arabia is next then Iran etc. I don not know how it is possible for us to control all of that when you consider that we are having a heck of time controlling a non-country such as Afghanistan with little infrastructure.

When our foreign policy changes vis a vis Isra'El, we will see a change in the tough spot we are presently in. Until then, you are correct, we are in for a 100 year war, that may in fact, destroy the United States as we know it.

We are not invincible in the whole world and the more we try to control far flung escapades, the less effective we will be at the same time generating hostilities, casualties, destroying our economy and good name.

It was a great rally here, the largest ever and totally peaceful.
