If it took the West so long to evolve under much more favorable conditions, why such impatience for those not so blessed?

Len.. reread your history and try and focus on exactly what had to occur before democracy and pluralistic politics were able to evolve.

The bottom line is that it required deposing despots and monarchs, or forcing them to share power.... To make every tyrant know that his hold on power is tenuous, at best should he threaten the interests of democratic nations.

And that's all the US is trying to do, IMO... dispose of a despot who has already invaded his neighbors, and continues to seek to do so in the future.
