Well, I didn't sell, but I think that Jeff wasn't wrong to sell half. He has a big position at a very low price point, so with over 100% profit, pulling out half lets him lock in that profit, gets his original investment off the table, and if something really bad happens he has some cash.

You never know when the bottom will fall out of the market or an investment for unforseen reasons.

Also, it's not unreasonable to expect some fluctuation in the price of a stock that has been moving so strongly upward. So if it gives a good dip he can choose to get back. If it doesn't he has cash out to invest elsewhere.

There isn't just one right away to play this, but I think his doing this is as right as other right ways. :-)

Taking profits too soon is the way a lot of people got rich, and he kept half in case the stock does go right up. I guess the issue for me is that we try to guess which way the stock is going to go, but truth is we don't know and I am one who acknowledges I don't know for sure, and selling half represents a situation where someone is willing to say he doesn't now for sure.
