BWAC, I understand that. But my understanding is that these shares are available for resale, or to use as compensation to employees, or to purchase other companies. Is that incorrect ?

My point is that the cash level would have been much higher if the shares were not repurchased. The company chose to buy shares, instead of, say US treasury bonds. But the repurchased shares are still an asset, even though they do not appear on the balance sheet.
