No, no, no! It should be "Gentlemen, take eight pieces and eight pawns, turn, and play P-K4!" My first impulse was that either of us could have beaten any of them in 5th grade. I guess not. Actually, I would have made an exception for Lincoln. So he swept away the position, whereupon his presidential dad dutifully headed to supper. LOL! Jimmy Carter plays chess occasionally, but despite his high intellectual skills he has never achieved much apparent skill at the game. This does not surprise me. He couldn't play the game of nations either. Interesting article.
