Well.... lots of people wrote off So. Cal. when aerospace went to the dogs and it's not fared half bad this recession, so to just write off a whole region is pretty short sighted, imo. Silicon Valley has talent and a breeding ground for new talent from the local educational institutions. The one negative that I can see is that it's pretty expensive to live up there and with VC funding and equity markets down like this, it might be hard to get new companies going up there. OTOH........ there must be a bunch of people who were smart enough to have cashed out and actually saved a whole lot for a rainy day instead of spending it as fast as they got it. Educational costs are gonna go up a huge percent here in Calif. with the budget crisis. Lets hope we don't drive the economy down farther than it is now. TA
