Taipei, Jan. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Personal-computer shipments in Asia, excluding Japan, rose 15 percent in the fourth quarter, boosted by demand for newer models, International Data Corp. said.
Shipments rose to 6.8 million units from 5.9 million units a year ago, the market researcher said in an e-mailed statement.
Legend Group Ltd., China's No. 1 PC maker, kept its position with the biggest share of the Asian market at 13.2 percent, the researcher said. Dell Computer Corp., the world's No. 1 PC maker, rose one level from a year ago to No. 4 by boosting sales in China, Australia and Singapore, IDC said.
``The Asia Pacific PC market grew steadily in almost all countries in the region,'' IDC analyst Bryan Ma said. ``Falling component prices, new technology introductions and an expected increase in spending should help continue this gradual growth.'' |
