Lazarus, as in most cases when it comes to statistics, they're like a bikini--what they show is interesting, but what they reveal is crucial.
My comment regarding Texas and Florida cattle size should have been better qualified. It is in larger herd size, not numbers of cattle, that Florida leads Texas. However, given how Texans like things 'big,' they still could be a bit upset over the statistic.
Here are some USDA figures for two periods of time 1994-1995 and 2000-2001. Yup, Florida's got bigger herds.
