Thanks Pass Pass for the info.

Don't forget that San Diego Chamber of Commerce just s*it (substitute * with either the letters 'p' or 'h') on Qcom's hand which feeds it by choosing Nextel.

In Southern California there is a daily fiancial radio show hosted by Klein-Pavlis which has a large number of listeners. Jerry Klein is influential in his stock picks because he has chosen many winners. He manages clients' money and his five top holdings include Nextel. His reasoning for nextel:

The company has the most complete infrastructure nationwide in comparison to other carriers. No roaming charges, broadcast capabilities etc. Even though the company is losing money big time, and currently the stock is in the low 20, he foresee Nextel reaching the century mark. Nextel is aggressive in So Cal, pushing to the second billing (and not rounded to the minute or 30 sec). Latest news is that Nextel is signing up customers up to the yin yang. And Craig McCaw is no forrest gump.

Based on your posting, Nextel it is TDMA, and the operation is limited to the continent, not worldwide. The limited capacity of TDMA as compared to CDMA, will make people will CDMA. But that capacity of TDMA has not been reached and far from saturation. Does this mean that it will be a very long time that people realize the distinct advantage of CDMA?

America likes to use its own standard

I hope you are right about that. Yet there are airlines buying Airbus as opposed to Boeing. I am just trying to figure out where QCOM is perceived in the market. The dive in the stock is not comforting for the longs.
