Humira - Rick.

Any opinions on the following which I picked up on Y!.

ld_blue_1923, i have heard that humira is as antigenic as a chimeric antibody when given as a monotherapy. the antigenicity is similar to remicade. abbott appears to have suppressed that information and in medical meetings has only reported haha data from combination studies with methotrexate. mtx is very immunosuppressive and decreases haca and hama reactions to remicade, also.

while i cannot yet post a link to prove this, the information will not be suppressed in the humira package insert. i look forward to reading the adverse reaction section of the pi.

something that has been published is that humira has an abnormally short half-life for a human antibody of this isotype. interesting, and maybe proof of my point.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

The half-life is 12 days which indeed does look a little bit short for a fully-human antibody. I have been thinking that about three weeks should be the norm.
