Karen, you are missing the point of the analogy. The point wasn't to cast aspersions on those who oppose the war -- indeed, support of abandoned puppies was chosen as a completely inoffensive and unimpeachable cause -- but that if you march in any cause sponsored by the KKK, you lend support to the KKK, even if the cause you are marching for is good and worthy and has nothing to do with KKK's usual program.
