The 100:1 disparity in worldwide labor won't ease for many, many years. That isn't a problem if there is low unemployment and prosperity at home, but until then it's one of the few things properly the province of the federal gov't.

Yeah there is a place for it, no doubt, but currently the entire risk/reward model is skewed by the bubble and the amt companies had to overpay to get workers in the US in 2000- thats when most of these outsourcing projects were dreamed up, and like with all "new things" - the promise is usually a little better than the reality. I suspect the same thing will happen to worldwide IT outsourcing that happened to manufacturing, a component in the overall picture, just not the total offshore dump we are seeing now.
