Yes, I agree. And they will swing to and fro over the centuries. It seems to me the easiest of the lot is the issue of assisted suicide. That's a no brainer in my mind, unlike abortion where I can see how reasonable people may differ.

Anything involving the death of a human being tends to stir up deep feelings.

Yes, those pesky deep feelings keep interfering with rational determinations. I have a friend who's typically quite sensible and very smart who won't designate herself as an organ donor because she's afraid someone will take them before she's done with them.
