Do you have any idea how these purported "appearances" occur in more than one place?

The brief answer is NO but I can tell you what I suspect! If you read a book called "Messages from Michael" (a channeled book) you will find the human entity is described as being composed of:

-- a causal body (or seed-body) non physical
-- an astral body (or energy body) non physical
-- physical bodies (PLURAL) 10 in number!

These physical bodies (at any given time) are some in the physical present, some in the after-death state, some living lives which could be viewed as "future" from the vantage point of present lives, some living lives viewed as past from the vantage point of present lives. SIMULTANEOUSLY. The dreams of some lives bleed-into the dreams and waking states of other lives.

Adi Da does not give such a description but he says that a given human entity is like a flock of birds:

-- some flying above the sea
-- some flying towards the sea
-- some swimming on the sea
-- some underwater in the sea
-- some flying up from the sea

and that the whole flock comprise the total entity.

On the basis of such descriptions you could come to the conclusion that ALL of us are making simultaneous appearances in various bodies. I believe the Guru has the ability to manifest in as many bodies as might be useful to him.

Can the guru appear in MORE than two places simultaneously?

I would say certainly yes. How many I really don't know. Recorded cases exist though of more than 50 persons in California having the same dream on a given night when the Guru was giving a talk on the same subject in Fiji.

if so--what is the nature of the matter which is reflecting the light in these different places, and is this matter an exact replica of the original with the exact same voice

The various accounts suggest that the experience of these
occurences is no different from any other normal physical body occurence.

There is the question of how the original moves or transmits this matter to a particular place and activates it.

You will find this described in the Urantia book relative to the loaves and fishes "miracle". They say Jesus just ordered and ACCELERATED the natural processes.

It can't be like the Star Trek idea of dissolving the phsical structure into energy controlled and contained, and sending this energy to another place where it is reconstituted as it were. It can't be like this because the original matter remains where it was.

Spiritual traditions suggest that it IS something like the
Star-Trek description because IS dissolved at one place and transported to another. But I really don't know the methodology.

Swami Rama's book TALES OF THE HIMALAYAN MASTERS contains a number of such stories.

Finally, these powers in any hands having the least self interest would allow for a self aggrandizement And if there is a limit placed on the power of evil, then who or what creates the limit...and where is that limit?

I don't know the answers to your questions, but it is pretty clear that there ARE various powers that can be used for good or evil (white or black magic) and there does not seem to be any built-in limit to these powers EXCEPT that Black Magicians appear to self-destruct by over-using their specific powers.

From some vantage points Hitler, Saddam Hussein and George Bush (the incumbent) would be seen as Black Magicians.

I know that this is a less than complete answer, but my knowledge and personal experience just don't equip me sufficiently.
