Missouri=misery? Any Missouri fans here? I have always been a little interested in it because my grandmother grew up there. It's probably not my natural climate, politically speaking, but I would love to go there and at least see it. You must have had bad experiences there, MSB??!!
The situation with unwanted pets is just horrible, I would agree. In San Francisco there is a very radical head of the SPCA, who has made it his goal to see that no pets are euthanized. One of the things that causes is that you have to prove you are allowed to keep pets if you rent. They actually look at your rental agreement, and may call your landlord. What I cannot understand is how totally homeless people can get them so easily, and use them to entice more donations. Living on a sidewalk is a horrible life for a pet, in my opinion!!
I think a lot of people don't realize somehow a pet is a 10-15 year commitment, and many people don't know how to train puppies (including me!) so that they are not destructive, and the result of that is that many of them, even very expensive pedigreed dogs, are returned to the animal shelter before they are a year old. It's nice to see that there are a lot of pets here living in stores, and an outreach program so seniors in nursing homes, and people with AIDS and cancer and other terminal diseases in hospices get to have contact with them.
