China Unicom (0762) up 0.9%, or 1 tick, at HK$5.75, little boosted by release of largely in-line mobile subscriber number. Although Unicom comfortably meeting own 2002 target, DBS Vickers actually finds Unicom's December CDMA user additions slightly disappointing at 760,000 (vs DBS projection 822,000), which DBS attributes to possible reduction of handset subsidy. DBS trims Unicom FY02 profit forecast by 0.1% and FY03's by 3.7% on fears of cannibalization between Unicom's CDMA and GSM services. (IVW)
