In the Desert Storm rout of the savage iraqis, I believe there were 148 coalition caualties and approx 500,000 Iraqi cassualties. The iraqis were quickly and decisively defeated. Many of thenm begged to be taken prisoner.
But don't worry. The US is better trained and better arned now.>. and i realize people this stupid to not see how different it this time it is are not worth responding to---incredible stupidity.
The U.S. is now DESPERATELY trying to get Turkey to allow them to have a second Northern Front with 100,000 U.S.troops based inside Turkey.
Because a southern front only war would be FAR FAR more dangerous than in 1991, and for those who can't figure out why, i despair of there abilities to reason.
The Turkish matter is so critical that it is said we are offering the Turks the possession of Oil Fields in Northern Iraq that turkey claims is rightfully theirs.
The last newpaper stories in Ankara are saying Turkey is saying o.k. to 40k troops in a right wing paper and 15,000 in the leftwing paper.
Bottomline, 40,000 wouldn't be enough,imo.
The huge majority in Turkey do not want us in Turkey and their parliament must approve such a plan, but the military has a major hold on the civilian members of their parliament, so one does not know what the result would be. Max p.s. Turkey, who does not want war, if they would refuse the U.S. request could actually be so critical that we may back off war all together.
The U.S. is fighting desperately to force Turkey to comply because they(the Pentagon) at least know a southern front only like 1991 is now HIGH RISK.
