M2,

Re: there was a counter demonstration of Bush supporters nearby. It drew, according to the NYT, fewer than 100.

We had a similar experience out here on October 26th. We had 350 people in the anti-war rally and 5 counter-protestors showed up.

The corporate media whores in town took video of the demonstration which was orderly and marching down both sidewalks down the main street through downtown. On the evening news, the reporter insinuated that one side of the street was the pro-war folks and the other side was the anti-war protestors. I had to call the news manager at the local TV station and raise hell over such an obvious and rude distortion of the facts.

A week later I got an interesting chill down my spine as I chatted with a dispatcher for the local 911 system. He allowed that there were more undercover cops at the rally than counterprotestors.

Welcome to Ashcroft's police state.

Cheerio! Ray
