LOUISVILLE, Ky., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- National Processing Company (NPC®), a leading provider of merchant credit and debit card processing and a wholly owned subsidiary of National Processing, Inc. (NYSE: NAP), announced the signing of a multi-year credit and debit card processing agreement with Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. Under the terms of the agreement, NPC will provide authorization and settlement services for all VISA®, MasterCard® and debit transactions accepted at Dollar Tree Store locations where credit and debit are accepted.

Founded in 1986, Dollar Tree Stores are a modern day equivalent of the traditional variety store. Each store offers a wide assortment of quality everyday general merchandise including housewares, seasonal goods, stationery, books, personal accessories, and other consumer items. Stores operate under the names Dollar Tree®, Dollar Bill$®, Only $1.00®, Only $One® and Dollar Express®.

"Dollar Tree Stores have carved out a niche in the retailing industry," said Tim Munto, senior vice president and general manager of National Sales for NPC. "Retailers operating with low profit margins rely on their vendors to provide cost-effective services that keep them competitive. NPC's processing expertise and economies of scale keep down the total cost of card acceptance for our merchants and benefits their bottom line."

"Providing value and convenience for our customers, while keeping a tight rein on cost, is key to our success," said Linda Register, Treasurer for Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. "Having credit card experts provide a processing solution and manage our payment processing needs enables Dollar Tree Stores to concentrate on delivering high-quality merchandise at very competitive prices."
