The Nasdaq was at 5000 in 2000.

I also just looked at the price of Gasoline over the past 25 years. For the sake of picking a top over that period, gasoline costs 1/2 of what it did in 1981 in real dollars.

There are manic spikes in most traded items.

Who is to say that gold 800 in 1979 is not the equivalent of Nasdaq 5k or Gasoline at an equivalent of $3.25/gallon in 1981?
