christine - just got done browsing some more on the poet's thread and
came across yours for the first time. will post there later with a
couple thoughts.

as for the mistress. well she's not the housekeeper, i am. as well as
the driver, gardener, game warden, ect. wish she was though! she's
not my girlfriend since i'm happily single now. which is good since this
is not the time or place for such things. but i would like that to be a part of my
future. as for fictional character, it's more complex than that. i must
vacuem and mop now and perhaps i'll figure out how to say it.

thanks for the great update on the city. a few weeks before i left
in '92 there was a demonstration on market street that got out of hand.
lots of broken windows and looting. don't remember what it was about.
sometimes i think the city isn't the city without a riot now and then to
let off some steam. interesting about the bike lanes. it's hard enough
to drive safely there much less try and get around on a bike. from what
you say i would quess there are more bikers now than when i left. it would
be good for sf if there were good ways to get around on bikes. the size
and compactness of it make it very suitable. except for the hills.(g)
