Just for my curiosity, let me know what you consider to be the far right - a few samples not a complete list. I consider the Falwell religious right, Pat Buchannan, Bill Bennett, 'pure' libretarians, the militia movement and a few others to be far right.
Hmm, I've decided I prefer the "further right" for the moment. When I typed that sentence I had in mind, most particularly, an essay, I think it was Mark Steyn, though I'm not certain, which was offensively anti-European and had all the marks of the further right.
My list of the further right. Well, I have a list of political types that would bother me immensely if they got close to power. And some of them now are. Falwell, Robertson, Abrams, De Lay, Buchanan, Bennett, Cheney (both), Perle, Rehnquist, Scalia, Thomas, Ashcroft, Olsen, and am in the long term process of making up my mind about brother Bush, the son. Michael Lind, in his new book, Made in Texas, makes a strong case for Bush as a part of that group. I haven't made up my mind on that argument, however.
You will see from that post that if I'm asked to talk seriously rather than simply throw around political labels, I consider Bush, the father, as the right. Further right is further right. |
