Much has been written about the feelings of ordinary Iraqi people concerning the war. Depending on your point of view they will either:

a) Fight to the death to resist American aggression;
or
b) Welcome their liberators with praise and gifts.

The report by The International Crisis Group offers a snapshot of what Iraqis on the ground are saying about the ongoing crisis, their immediate concerns and their visions of the future. A very interesting report that should be read by all.

There appears to be broad support for a U.S. led operation provided that it is quick and clean and followed by a robust international reconstruction effort.

The International Crisis Group (ICG) is an independent, non-profit, multinational organisation, with over 80 staff members on five continents, working through field-based analysis and high-level advocacy to prevent and resolve deadly conflict.

ICG’s approach is grounded in field research. Teams of political analysts are located within or close by countries at risk of outbreak, escalation or recurrence of violent conflict. Based on information and assessments from the field, ICG produces regular analytical reports containing practical recommendations targeted at key international decision-takers.
