Hi Jake,
This could very well be a HUGE selling point
for ORCL, and thats good.

However, some thoughts.

I have found that the average user will still
go to the IT dept. for "reports" EVEN though
you (IT) have provided them with a nicely massaged
file or files that "sorts" and condenses/expands
the data in the manner that they requested. We
tried this approach (making "it" user friendly)
using a product known as FOCUS (Private Company)
and found that only the "super user" would use it.
Mgt. sure couldn't/wouldn't so I wouldn't count to
much on whatever ORCL has come up with. My programmers
spent approx. 1/3 of their time generating reports for
even simple queries - not due to the product, but due
to the volumn of requests coming in from (as Dilbert
would say) "The devil spawned end user".

Just some thoughts from a person who's been in
the trenches since '65 up until a couple of years
ago.
