You can't afford to pay for American style freeways, hospitals and other amenities when an increasing percentage of the population earns Third World wages. Their share of social benefits cannot be paid out of their wages.

What is your proof that Americans are earning Third World Wages in higher percentages and what is your time frame? You need to talk to some 80 year olds about third world style wages back in their youth.

The poor and low paid workers will get their social benefits from where they've always gotten them, from the top half income earners. Welcome to socialism. Take it from the most productive and give it to the least productive.

b.) choosing the model of Switzerland with regulated borders, higher costs, higher wages, and a higher level of amenities.

I'll take the free market over the guaranteed existence any day. Besides I'd rather buy my own amenities then fork over half my money to the government to provide me with a tenth of what I paid for.
