Yeah, but the people who are not prevented aren't unhappy. They are beyond happy or unhappy and it matters not to them. It only matters to those who remain.

However that doesn't sound like a good solution either.

I don't think there are any good solutions. Which is a very good reason for government to mind its own business.

My question had to do with analyzing just what are we trying to do by outlawing suicide. You seemed to be suggesting that we're trying to prevent the harm done by suicides done out of desire to hurt those left behind. It seems to me that a lot of the arguments I hear are off target. If there are to be laws to prevent something, the laws should focus more precisely. We don't ban driving because some people drive recklessly. We focus on reckless driving. If reckless suicide is the issue, then let's focus legislative action on that.
