Hi scott: One can count on the International community to protect all citizens from the scourge of terrorism, and WMD falling into the hands of madmen or one can rely on those closer to home..those I consider more interested in me as a US citizen and all of the protections that come with that privilege. (I openly admit that I am only concerned with what is best for my country when it comes right down to it. I am not under any illusions that the people of other countries don't feel the exact same way as I do about their respective countries.) It's not that I don't want to count on the International community to monitor WMD, and prevent any build up. (Isn't that what our President is pushing for?) It's just that 11-12 years of total neglect by the UN of the situation in Iraq is over the top IMO. It is impossible for me to have faith in the Governments of France, Germany or say.....Libya when I know they don't have my country and it's best interest at heart. IMO Mr. Bush gets full credit for crafting a resolution on Iraq that all 15 members of the Security Council couldn't refuse. I'm grateful that he pressed the issue. Some Americans appear to have an obvious fear and loathing for the current administration. Some people even think that President Bush....along with the Jewish population of NYC......planned the whole 911 event. Goes to show, it takes all kinds, but they also seem to be the ones that distrust anything American. I chose to travel a different path, and place my faith in the hands of those entrusted to protect me and my family via the Constitution of the US, and I have full confidence in the abilities of the current administration to be pro-active when it comes to the defense of Americans. I'd find it difficult to chastise and deride my President and the people assigned the awesome responsibility of defending our country should another attack like 9/11 take place. Rather I would ask what I could do as a citizen to help. My hope is that partisan politics, and frankly an obvious dislike for our President doesn't prevent our elected officials from doing that which is required. For anyone to think that we won't be attacked again is naive at best. What can I say, each to his own. M
