since we are following a path of actual vs possible events. Do you not see a difference

No, I am missing something. I don't think it's valid to say an event is possible if you also say that it won't happen because of past events. To be possible there must be a chance that the event will occur, but there must also be a chance that the event won't occur, otherwise it is some sort of certainty. By chance I don't just mean that there is a degree of uncertainty in our calculations or measurement. It makes no difference whether we know or can guess the outcome, it truley has to be undecided to be possible.

following a path of actual vs possible events
This is a good example of what is happening, and what did happen, verus what may happen. At time==0 (the present) the randomness is resolved. Whatever possibility there may have been becomes something certain. We can only know the time as we experience it, I wonder sometimes if the past becomes uncertain in it's own way.
