Bombardier Will Build 500 Freight Cars in Mexico

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--JANUARY 22, 2003 - 11:41 EST
Bombardier Transportation today announced that
Gunderson-Concarril, a joint venture formed in 1998 by Bombardier
and The Greenbrier Companies, has received an order valued at
$53.7 million Cdn ($35 million US) to build 500 freight cars for
TTX Company. Bombardier's share of the order represents $26.8
million Cdn ($17.5 million US).

Commenting on the order, William Spurr, President of Bombardier
Transportation, North America, said: "Partnering with Greenbrier
underscores Bombardier's strength as a leading manufacturer of
freight cars and reinforces our presence in Mexico."

Bombardier and The Greenbrier Companies each have a 50% ownership
interest in Gunderson-Concarril. The joint venture serves the
North American marketplace with a focus on conventional freight
cars. Under the terms of the joint venture, Bombardier provides
manufacturing know-how and facilities, whereas Greenbrier
provides marketing and engineering expertise. The
Gunderson-Concarril plant is located in Bombardier
Transportation's manufacturing complex in Sahag£n, Mexico.

high-speed rail, commuter rail, automated rapid transit and
automated guideway transit systems. It also maintains two of the
largest multi-level commuter fleets in Canada and the United
