"Americans like Bush overall." His popularity has been going down quite sharply. 9/11 provided a big halo effect -- the halo is evaporating under the weight of a poor economy and serious concerns about Bush himself. Bush is ready to use his power when he ought to be using better judgement instead. His recent performances suggest that we will now see a Bush that is rapidly losing public support. I don't think his ideas on tax cuts for will resonate well with the electorate. And he is presiding over an economy that would be in recovery mode except for his mis-steps on foreign policy. As his judgement becomes more and more suspect, he will have a tough time getting anything done -- he will have lost too much credibility, and credibility is something he badly needs.
