Karen I will give you an argument that has been raised by other people. It is not mine, I am not endorsing or supporting it, just asking what you think of it.

Assume for the sake of argument that the fetus is a human person with rights. It could be argued (in fact it has been argued by people arguing with me on this subject on SI) that forcing the woman to carry the fetus makes her its slave. She is forced to support it. That argument could be countered by the idea of parental responsibility. It could also be countered by the idea that by choosing to have sex the woman helped create the condition where the child is dependent on her. If put you in a place where you will die without my help making me help you so that you can live does not make me your slave. To counter that argument the subject of rape is brought up, because then the woman did not willingly take the risk of putting her unborn child in danger.

I don't think requiring parents to take care of their offspring, born or unborn makes them slaves, but for those who take that position (or those who take it just for the unborn, perhaps because the mother can not share or pass on the responsibly of carrying the child) you can get a situation where it can be reasonably argued that a woman who was raped should be allowed to have an abortion but if she was not raped she should not be allowed to do so.

Of course I don't buy the idea that a woman carrying a child becomes a slave and I don't think Neo does either but this is at least one example of an argument for treating unborn children that are the result of rape differently then other fetuses.
