Yeah, it a lousy approach, but less lousy than the alternative, which would be impossible, as you suggested with your speculation. Unless you have a proposal for a feasible alternative?

You either report the rape timely, before you find you're pregnant and thus have an interest in a false charge and no way to prove your accusation, or you're stuck bearing the child. Life can be a bitch, even for adults.
