No - that would make it look worse. Social Security is cap'ed, but not the others.

The usual citation of the data you quoted, John, is on income tax alone which, it's my understanding, is less regressive than the others I mentioned. If they were included, the numbers come out differently.

As you might guess, I'm not bothered by the rich paying taxes; they seem to be doing quite well at the moment and have been doing so, relatively to the rest of us, since the middle 70s. I'm bothered by the deteriorating public infrastructure of the country; the deteriorating incomes of the bottom portions of the distribution; the loss of most of the safety net; tax breaks which help only the wealthy, provide little stimulus if any; and greater drains on the diminishing tax dollars for home security and national defense while further denying services. Not a happy picture.
