Microsemi Corp. (Nasdaq:MSCC - News), a leading manufacturer of discrete semiconductors and power management integrated circuits, today announced that WAMCO Inc., a distribution leader in lighted components for aerospace applications, will distribute Microsemi's new line of "Aviation White" high brightness white light emitting diodes (LEDs) into that market. Aviation White LEDs represent one segment of Microsemi's newly introduced line of white LEDs featuring its exclusive Optomite(TM) package that provides exceptional color consistency across the color spectrum of individual devices, as well as across production lots -- both longstanding industry problems.
WAMCO's strong technical background provides assistance to design engineers in the selection of lighting components for a variety of aircraft applications, including master caution systems, audio control panels, flight management systems, illuminated switches, and integrated panels/bezels.
The integration of Microsemi's innovative parts and WAMCO's strong application support for lighting engineers also plays to Microsemi's strengths as a long-time leader in high-reliability military and space products.
"We feel that our Aviation White LED products are ideally suited for aerospace applications. We believe that the combination of lighting expertise our two groups bring to aerospace customers is unmatched," said James J. Peterson, Microsemi president and CEO.
