we had some borderline blowout numbers in enterprise software this time around. The year over year comparisons are against the january quarter last year, which people probably don't remember was extremely strong for software (spurred along by Tom Siebel's fall 01 Forbes cover) so these comparisons are tough.

4:27PM PeopleSoft beats by $0.04 on revenue upside (PSFT) 17.47 -0.05: Reports Q4 (Dec) earnings of $0.18 per share, $0.04 better than the Multex consensus of $0.14; revenues fell 5.1% year/year to $512.3 mln vs the $482.3 mln consensus.

5:24PM Check Point Sftwr issues Q1 guidance (CHKP) 13.98: -- Update -- On call, Check Point (CHKP) expects Q1 revenue of $104-106 mln and EPS of $0.24-0.25, slightly above the Multex consensus estimates of $104.3 mln and $0.24 respectively... Management added that it sees double digit revenue growth in 2H03 over 2H02.

4:51PM BroadVision beats by $0.15 (BVSN) 3.85 -0.16: Reports Q4 (Dec) earnings of $0.11 per share, $0.15 better than the Multex consensus of ($0.04); revenues fell 41.2% year/year to $28.8 mln vs the $28.0 mln consensus.

(broadvision not a major player anymore but since this is in the very important niche of web storefronts and web selling, I think it is significant)

5:52PM Siebel Systems tops Q4 consensus (SEBL) 8.39 +0.31: Reports Q4 (Dec) earnings of $0.05 per share, $0.01 better than the Multex consensus of $0.04; revenues fell 19.1% year/year to $394.7 mln vs the $369.7 mln consensus.
