benchpress, I am really sorry to hear that. That is a terrible situation. In a case like yours, it is the doctors that deserve to suffer professionally. In any other profession, gross negligence like that will result in dismissal, loss of license or jail. My family has been far more lucky. My Dad's physician was able to detect progressing Prostate cancer. He was able to get treatment and it appears to be out of his system now after just four months of relatively unobtrusive surgery. He was a person that never went to the doctor until his mid 50's. fortunately, his wife made him go. I am not sure where you live, but we are fortunate to live in Boston where access to some of the best in the country are available. Your personal situation is also an example of what I am talking about. The doctors today pay ridiculous malpractice insurance as a whole because of the small % of doctors that exhibit gross incompetence. I believe that a doctors personal wealth should also be at risk in a situation like yours. Perhaps then, fewer mistakes would be made.
