RE: Lower Capacity Zips

Let's not forget that, when the Zip was first
introduced, you supposedly could get either a
100MB Zip disk _OR_ a 25MB Zip disk (supposedly
for a little less money). I say "supposedly"
because almost nobody ever saw the 25MB disks.
I'm not sure they're even available any more.
Still, the current Zip drives can read and write
them. I think this evidence weighs in heavily
against the argument that smaller-capacity Zip
disks are going to be of any importance. Rather,
the 100MB Zip disks are going to drop down below
ten bucks each and people will pass 'em around
without thinking much about the cost. A Bic or
Pilot pen costs about two bucks these days. Do
you really chase after one if somebody walks
off with it? The 100MB Zip disk won't be all
that much more costly.

This month's Psychedelic SI Award goes to EP for
invoking Grace Slick's little known "Read Your
Threads" line. Hahahaha.

Cheers, Tom (long IOM)
